The laser acts on the pigment in the hair: it works very well on dark hair and quite a bit worse —sometimes not at all— on very light blonde, red or grey hair. The usual result is a very big, lasting reduction, not that a hair never grows back again.
Underarms, bikini line, lip, chin, neck, linea alba or feet. Ten or fifteen minutes, without taking the day off: they're done while you're already here for something else.
Full legs, back, torso. The sessions are longer and are planned with a calendar, because the laser works following the hair's cycle and the appointments are spaced out.
Laser hair removal is done in rounds: the usual is six to eight sessions per area, plus the odd touch-up each year. That's why it's sold in packages, which work out better than going one at a time.
